Childe the Hunter

Childe the hunter

Childe the Hunter urges his horse across the waste of Foxtor Mire

Childe the Hunter, by Mark Beeson, is a play based on the Dartmoor folktale about a Saxon nobleman who comes to grief in Foxtor Mire while out hunting during a blizzard on the Moor. It featured music by Phil Oliver, choreography by Oona Beeson and scene-painting by Olivia Young, with Dickon Fell in the title role, and was performed on two nights in Manaton Parish Hall at the end of January 1986.
