DARTFEST
2010
Dartfest
is Dartmoor's festival of new young people's writing which has been
running since 2007. Dartfest 2010 showcased eight short
plays written, directed and performed by young people themselves,
taking place over three performances - each play was differenet
as no play was performed twice.

Cast
from A Warm Welcome
The
featured plays expressed young people's views and passions about
differeing aspects of life on Dartmoor, exploring the different
ages of Romans, Victorians, the post First World War and contemporary
eras.
Director
Mollie Millward-Nicholls makes up actor Evie Faulkner as the Fey
"I've
never seen so much condensed talent in all my life." (Audience
member comment)

Floor
canvas for Dartfest 2010
The
young people not only wrote, directed and performed the plays, they
also had input into elements such as costume and makeup, and they
designed and painted the floor canvas (featured above) which acted
as the minimalistic but dramatic 'horizontal backdop' for each of
the eight plays performed.

Stepping Stones written and directed by Evie Faulner
"I
developed my play "The Stepping Stones" from poetry I
created, inspired by the countryside, and especially by streams.
This play is about a girl called Fraya, both as a young girl and
a young adult, dealing with the loss of her mother and the emotions
that came with it."

Warm Welcome written and directed by Teresa

A
family welcome their bereaved relactives into their home, then a
mysterious man arrives at their doorstep. As the mystery unfolds
family secrets are revealed.
The
Soul
written and directed by Gemma Halliday
Five
young teenagers become lost in a forest. As they try to find their
way out their tracks are dogged by a strange presence.
Nightmares
written and directed by Tara Boyland
A
young woman troubled by her dreams visists the past under hypnosis.
False
Hope
written by Tori Ditchburn, directed by Tori with Teresa Hellyer
A
girl becomes obsessed with her older sister's disappearance after
a family row.
Drifters
written and directed by Clare Hellyer
Two
teenagers are drifting together across Dartmoor. They slowly discover
each other's pasts and why they are living rough on the moor.
Lillium
de Lacu
written and directed by Mollie Millward-Nicholls
Set
in Roman Brittania, a tale of myth or madness. Centering around
a Lilly destined to become the next lost Lady of the Lake. Confined
by her mother's fear of the devil and her own uncertainty, her will
becomes the whim of the Fey, a creature of legend from age long
lost.
Wait
written by Matthew Holding, directed by Clare Hellyer
Sam
is a man stuck working in a bookshop. Soon, however, he discovers
that there's more to this world than just this world.
