DARTMOOR RESOURCE
Dartmoor Resource is MED Theatre's latest project. MED Theatre has received a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund to research Dartmoor ’s myths and folklore, its ecology, and history of community theatre. The award of £40,100 will enable volunteers to be trained to create a web-based archive and learning resource, featuring video and animation. Workshops and drama performances in schools and community venues will involve local people in creating new contemporary myths. There will also be a booklet published to advertise the resource.
The work, which will start in the autumn, will involve expert tutors running courses for volunteers in research methods, web-site develoment, animation, publishing skills and marketing. The volunteers will then create the Dartmoor Resource under supervision. The Resource will feature some of MED Theatre’s unique archive on the history of Dartmoor Theatre as well as its own tradition of integrating ecological with historical and social research on Dartmoor through the medium of drama.
