The Miller's Tale

'The bread I eat in London is a deleterious paste,

mixed up with chalk, alum, and bone ashes, insipid to the taste

and destructive to the constitution.'

Tobias Smollett -'The Expedition of Humphrey Clinker'. 1771

The Miller's Tale is an interactive theatre experience that allows participants to step back in time

and experience a day in the life of a Victorian flour miller. Due to the fact that the audience meet

the miller John Horn on a particularly important day when he is arrested for the adulteration of his

flour, they also become involved in a Victorian court case. This project will be working with local

primary school groups at the Museum of Dartmoor Life from November 2006.
