The White Bird of the Oxenhams (1997)

The White Bird of the Oxenhams was written and directed by Mark Beeson with assistance in direction from Tom Greeves and Deborah Marsh. It was part of Rural and Urban, a performance project which aimed to bring together these two contrasting areas in an effort to show that ultimately humans may face the same challenges no matter where they live. The White Bird of the Oxenhams looks at an ancestral rural family who are forced to turn to the city for help when they are faced by a disablement. The play is based on a well-known Dartmoor myth and the presence of a mysterious white bird looms ominously in the background…the-white-bird-of-the-oxemhams
