Dartmoor elements
- a NEW collection of poetry by Mark Beeson

'The Fields are quiet, you can hear the sun...'

These poems and poetic extracts from plays were written by Mark Beeson (1954–2022) – founder and artistic director of MED Theatre for thirty-three years – playwright, poet, teacher and social commentator.

They are intimate reflections on the ecology and environment of Dartmoor, drawing on Mark’s keen observation of his surroundings and of the creatures (both animal and human) who inhabit it, as well as on his deep knowledge of the moor’s folklore and culture.

Mark’s relationship with Dartmoor and his writings are covered in an introduction by Tom Greeves, and a commentary on his poems by poet James Crowden is included.

Edited by Tom Greeves and Gillian Webster, with illustrations by Fran Evans.
