The final output of MED Theatre’s‘Dartmoor, Devon and World War Two’ project, funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund with additional support from the Community Fund, ‘The Magistrate’ is a community play set during a peculiar time – during a world war – that was in development during a peculiar time – amidst the global COVID-19 pandemic.
This production was adapted into an audio drama series with a large, multi-generational community cast, working together digitally while in lockdown. Follow our social media and keep checking back on this page for updates of when and how you can hear the series.
This community is a close one, living at times in one another’s pockets but isolated nonetheless. When the second war in a decade takes hold of Britain, how do the rural communities of Devon cope with the additional strains and tensions, and how does their treatment of one another show the cracks that are forming?
Performance dates
