THE MAGISTRATE (2021)

A WORLD AT WAR AND A FRACTURED COMMUNITY

The final output of MED Theatre’s ‘Dartmoor, Devon and World War Two’ project, funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, ‘The Magistrate’ is a community play set during a peculiar time – during a world war – that is in development during a peculiar time – amidst the global COVID-19 pandemic.

This production is in the rehearsal phase, with a large, multi-generational community cast, working together digitally while in lockdown. Follow our social media and keep checking back on this page for updates.

What's it about?

This community is a close one, living at times in one another’s pockets but isolated nonetheless. When the second war in a decade takes hold of Britain, how do the rural communities of Devon cope with the additional strains and tensions, and how does their treatment of one another show the cracks that are forming?
