'A piece of great craftmanship'

Of The Bees (1992), the Arts Council assessor wrote: ‘For a piece so apparently complex and written in verse, it was remarkably accessible. It was a piece of great craftsmanship; highly relevant, highly topical, very amusing, philosophical, entertaining and provocative. As a piece of professional writing it equalled that of the National Theatre’s rhyming couplet political satire last year, and yet as a community theatre production it was equally praiseworthy.

The Bees was written and directed by Mark Beeson for MED Theatre, and performed in Manaton and Moretonhampstead parish halls and at South Dartmoor Community College, Ashburton.
