THE BEES

'A piece of great craftmanship'

Of The Bees (1992), the Arts Council assessor wrote: ‘For a piece so apparently complex and written in verse, it was remarkably accessible. It was a piece of great craftsmanship; highly relevant, highly topical, very amusing, philosophical, entertaining and provocative. As a piece of professional writing it equalled that of the National Theatre’s rhyming couplet political satire last year, and yet as a community theatre production it was equally praiseworthy.
