CHILDE THE HUNTER

A TALE OF A SAXON THEGN

Childe The Hunter (1986) was written and directed by Mark Beeson with music by Phil Oliver and a backdrop designed by Olivia Young. It was inspired by a piece of folklore about an 11th century saxon thegn reputed to have owned the priory of Plymstock. In the 17th century the topographer Tristram Risdon first put the thegn’s story into writing. The play was performed by local actors in Manaton Parish Hall.

The poster was designed by Dickon Fell, who also played the eponymous role of Childe.
