MED Theatre secure Heritage Fund support for ‘Dartmoor, Devon and World War Two’ project

In November we heard that MED Theatre have been successful in securing some funding from The National Lottery Heritage Fund for our latest young people’s and community project, ‘Dartmoor, Devon and World War Two’. This is an exciting opportunity to explore the impact of WW2 on the lives of local people in rural Devon.

We will be looking in particular at agricultural, social and environmental changes in people’s every day lives and the changes in Devon that lived on for the years following. The young people involved with the project will be creating a play, an audio play, a monthly podcast and also working on the devising of the community play with our Artistic Director, Mark Beeson. Oral History interviews and story collections will be held as part of the research process and the voices of our wartime generation will play a huge role in the creation of all outputs.

This project is possible thanks to players of The National Lottery. A recruitment workshop for young people interested in taking part will be taking place on January 12th 2020 in Chagford Jubilee Hall, 2.30pm-4.30pm. Anyone who cannot make this workshop but is keen to be involved is welcome to contact us at education@medtheatre.co.uk.

You can keep up to date with the project on the ‘Dartmoor, Devon and World War Two’ page.
